Falls Apart

It feels like the world as I know it is imploding quietly.  Oil on the beach and a hurricane pointing this way.  Job interviews and a move on the horizon.  Changing my relationship with food (again).  Wondering if I am really strong enough for the future.  Feeling the urge to write again - like this - the glow of the screen and nothing much to say.

My grandmother's name was Zela - she was a painter. From her I have gained my love of Z names and Monet (but not his fucking waterlilies). I did not gain my swearing mouth from her, but she did say 'damn' in front of me once and I giggled. I think I'm witty enough, but my shyness tends come across as aloofness until I'm brave enough to crack my first joke (which will be awful, morbid, or insensitive - if not all three) - in front of you.

Ridiculous contemplation

No matter where I set up a blog, I find it hard to feel settled. Everything feels so scattered. Personal blogging feels so 2003. Which I guess, kinda, it was.

But when it's evening and the Doodledog and I are snuggled in the bed, I miss the captured randomness of my past.

Prelude to a weekend

I had a third phone interview today, at a company that I really want to work out.  They're a small team, working from a Victorian house turned office building.  That the job is actually several states away is both scary, but just what I need.  Not even counting the move, it will likely be a pay cut by the time I figure in commuting and such, but not a big one, and I think the tradeoffs would definitely be worth it.

The process is slow with such a small company, and that I live out of state, but I've really seemed to 'click' with each of the guys who interviewed me, and the work they want me to do is so exactly in line with both my strengths and my plans for growth.

Everything seems so quick, but so measured at the same time.  I'm just holding on while trying to steer the ride.

Disable Typekit

Based on my Google searches, I am the only person who absolutely HATES sites overriding perfectly legible fonts with ugly TypeKit ones.  But on the off chance someone else hates it too, here is my super easy solution, spelled out for anyone else who wants to stop TypeKit fonts from taking over (pre-supposing you are using Firefox, because why wouldn't you be?)

If you don't have it, install AdBlock Plus.  Under Tools > AdBlock Plus Preferences, click Filters > Add Filter and paste:

If you really want to see ads, I suppose you can disable all the other filters.  I do have it disabled on some smaller sites that I try to support.  Or you can just enjoy your new speedier, less annoying browsing.
